Rock 'n' Roll, Baby!

There are less than 36 days until the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. I am getting so excited! Even though I've had to change my focus and plan to walk it, I am looking forward to the excitement of the day, the bands, the scenery, and the post-race beer.

In a way, it's nice that I will be walking the race. I get to focus on having fun! I just have to finish in under seven hours.

And heck, you never know... if my leg/knee feels well enough, I may try running parts of the race.

Comments

A lot can happen in 36 days, so who knows? Even if you walk the course, make note of good and bad parts of it, so when you run it next year you'll know what to expect. Most importantly, as you know, is to enjoy the moment and have FUN! By the way, my mile 1 is being run for you today. I figure I won't be all smelly and disgusting until after mile one. It's supposed to be a record high temperature today! Thanks always for your comments on my blog. It's greatly appreciated.

Sara - that sounds like AWESOME fun - a rock'n'roll marathon - we don't have any such thing over here.

And the cool thing in walking is you can really take it all in, show the crowds your wicked moves! Make yourself into the day's REAL entertainment :).

Thanks for your lovely messages on my text - a girl will get a big head with so much encouragement! I guess the reason I'm so into this running is that I've never really achieved any physical goals before. Any achievements I've made have been head bound - intellectual or creative, you know? I give up too easily when it comes to the physical, which is why I'm loving kicking these running goals!

Have a great day! I'm off to sleep as I have to get up super early to fit my run in tomorrow!

I'd love to do a race in San Diego ... hmmm.

The Rock N' Roll events always seem so organized and well thought out. They took over our 1/2 in Chicago and I'm thinking about it ... but just a little!

it'll be here before you know it, and your goal of enjoying it is the same goal I have.

Sara, any consideration for Gallo-walking (strategy recommended by Jeff Galloway, alternating walking & running) or simply planning to walk a specific amount of time through each water station (in essence, running 13 two-mile runs vs. 1 26.2 mile run)?

I ran it last year. I had a ton of fun. Great event that is put on by a community that loves to put it on!

You still have a month, so you might be really able to runs some parts. And if not, I think it's cool you are sticking to your plan and walk. I had to run my first marathon very slowly because of a previous injury, but I still had a great time for most of the part.

Post race beer-- Mmmmmmmmmm-- That is what will keep me going for my half marathon-- that, and the dozen chicken wings I've promised myself for going through this training.

I think you're going to have a blast walking. You'll be able to better hold conversations and meet some great people along the way.

Are you walking with friends? How hot is Vegas in the summer???

Whoops-- I am an idiot sometimes :) I don't know why I was thinking Vegas-- sorry about that!

Now that its in San Deigo you'll have even more fun!
