Reese's Run and Something is Missing
Reese's Run
Reese's Run Virtual Race is supposed to be tomorrow. Well, I did it today. And I didn't run it, I stationary-biked it. I also did twice the amount plus two miles. I hope that counts!
Reese is the daughter of blogger, Run Like a Girl!. Reese has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. She turns four tomorrow. Run Like a Girl hosted this 4-mile virtual race in order to raise money for Joints in Motion. It's not too late to sign up for the virtual race. You can still click on the Reese's Run box on my sidebar and take it from there.
Something's Missing
My first two years of teaching were pretty much spent either being sick or fighting off some sort of illness. During our first month-long break (we were a year-round school), I remember waking up one morning and feeling weird. I kept wondering, "What is wrong with me?" Then it hit me... I felt well! For the first time in three months, I wasn't sick or feeling worn down from fighting off infections. It had been so long, I had forgotten what it felt like to not be sick.
I had the same strange sensation today. While having a great time walking all over the Wild Animal Park with my four year old, I realized I felt different. Something had changed. I was walking up hills and down hills... without pain!! It's been so long since I've been able to do any sort of serious walking without feeling pain, I forgot what it felt like to be without it.
Don't get me wrong... I still feel it when I try to run. I can't jump on the pogo stick. I also feel it when the cat almost trips me by running between my feet. But, I figure it can't be much longer until I can get back to running.
Big Baby
No, not me... not this time, anyway. I'm referring to the cute baby elephant that is at the Wild Animal Park these days. Baby elephants are my favorite animal... and if I had one as a pet, I bet it wouldn't try to trip me by running between my feet.
Happy Friday, everyone!!

Have you downloaded "Believe it or not" yet?
I'm going to do Reese's run today too. I don't want to run 4 miles the day before the La Jolla 1/2. I'd almost forgotten about it.
